The Navy Reserve is open to all prior active duty or reserve commissioned naval officers (including Warrant Officers), with any designator (i.e., Surface Warfare Officers, Aviators, Naval Flight Officers, General URL, Meteorologists, Medical, JAG, etc).
The Navy Reserve offers you the opportunity to maintain your specialty, promote on schedule, and work towards a retirement (prior service time counts for this), all on a part-time basis!
You can also maintain SGLI benefits, NEX/Commissary privileges, limited health and dental coverage, and the pride of wearing the Navy uniform and serving your country.
There are units throughout Southern
California, including Los Angeles with which you can affiliate. Individual
Ready Reserve (IRR) members are also highly sought.
Commissioned officers from other branches of service are encouraged to
apply, especially if you have a specialty that carries over directly (i.e.,
Medical Professionals, Aviators, Engineers, etc.). The Inter-service
Transfer process is not difficult and we heartily welcome our brethren
from other services.
If you are prior enlisted and have never held a commission, you need to
go through the Direct Appointment route. Please refer to the list
of available specialties on the Home Page.
